A Lark's Tale Cuff ~

I'm excited to show you this sweet Spring cuff project ~

First you'll want to gather your supplies
(listed at the end of this post)

To make cuff ~
Make sure stamp is clean
Ink stamp (make sure to get ink on image only)

*Using care: Position velvet ribbon over stamp - you can keep it in place with your finger until you put iron on it
Place small end of hot iron on top, keeping iron level - DON'T move back & forth, leave on for about 10 seconds
Note: it's a good idea to practice on scrap a few times first

Voila! a pretty embossed bird
Don't worry about any stamp lines ~ you won't see them

Make nest ~
Using about 5" of vintage seam binding lace, gather along one edge with a running stitch, sew in pearls for eggs

Using a running stitch, lightly gather top edge of nest,
then tack side edges here & there

Embroider & Embellish ~
I used a chain stitch to create a branch
Cut out floral images from fabric and whip stitch edges, add buttons

Dye edges ~
If you'd like, lightly paint the edges with brewed coffee to give it an aged feel , let dry

Cut printed fabric 2" wide x about 11" long
Using fusible webbing strips (optional,) place two rows between velvet ribbon and printed fabric
Iron on high, pressing on ends, but stay away from "nest" or you'll smoosh it down, it's alright if it isn't fused in that area

Cut away edges using pinking shears
Figure out cuff length, and add 1 1/2", cut to length

Make a small loop (for button closure)
Stitch folded edges together & stitch loop down to secure

Using a running stitch, go all around cuff
Sew on shank button for closure, or use a snap
Glue or sew on small millinery flowers

If you'd like to purchase a kit they will be available in my shop. I hope you enjoy making this cuff, and if you have any questions please contact me via my blog

Happy creating ~

xo Heidi

Heidi, OMG, this cuff is so me. You are very creative. Would you consider selling a finished cuff? I have rheumadoid arthritis that doesn't allow me to do alot of hand work.

What a beautiful idea, and thank you for sharing this tutorial. I just love the bird stamp against that lovely bird nest with pearls.
