Altered Holiday Tin

Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving? I think this is one of the perfect times to craft. Kids are out of school, most people have time off, and the excitement of the holidays is in the air. Recently I found a box of vintage tins at a estate sale. I bought them not knowing what I would do with them but thinking I would come up with something. The worn red color made me think of vintage Christmas so I made a Christmas hanger from them. I thought I would share how I made it.
You will need:
Vintage tin (any would do-even a band aid tin)
Ribbons and trim
Buttons
Christmas ornaments
Glitter
Tinsel
Pliers
Drill or hammer and nail
Glue gun
Wire

First make two holes of both sides of your tin. I used a drill and small drill bit for this. You could use a nail and hammer a hole too. Second make a hole in the bottom of the tin.

Next wrap your tinsel around the top. I use pliers to twist and secure the tinsel the hot glued it. Then tie some ribbon though each hole to make a handle. If you like you can switch and add tinsel for a handle and ribbon around the top. The varieties are endless!

Now I embellished the bottom of the tin using velvet ribbon and a button. I just measured, cut, and hot glued.

This part is a little tricky. I took a long piece of wired tinsel and made a knot at the end. First you add a glop of glue to the knot. Then you stick the un knotted end though the top, and down inside though the hole. You have to work fast before the glue dries. You pull tight for the glued knot will stick to the bottom.

Now we are to the last part! I took a glittered snowflake, vintage ball ornament, and a candy cane ornament and threaded wire though them. Then I simply tied it to the tinsel and added a little ribbon.
This would be perfect to hang on the fire place mantle or a cabinet knob. You could add flowers or even candy canes. I think it would make a sweet gift!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! And I hope you have time for crafting!

Everything shown on this website is so beautiful. I've only had time to make the glittered paper ornaments (made about 20!), but I'm dying to try others. Thank you girls so much for taking the time to teach and inspire all of us "want to be" crafters!

I read that article and it's all about the Christmas season preparation and that gift was mostly given on that occasion to the family and friends. Last year I was in the best pbn services and not have enough time to enjoy the season.
